Near Vilariño Frío, we find the remains of an ancient Roman road known as Vía Nova or Antonine’s Route XVIII. This road connected the cities of Astorga and Braga. It dates back to the 1st century and includes the “old bridge” of Roman origin, which was reconstructed in the medieval period and is currently in very good condition. This bridge has three semicircular arches and dates back to the 17th century; it was built with large, well-carved stones.
