Mao River is a tributary of the Sil River, originating on the northern slope of the San Mamede Mountain Range, in Montederramo. Before flowing into the Sil near Cristosente, this river passes through Sabín, Vereda, Montederramo, Nogueira, and Vilariño Frío, also bathing the recreational area of Ponte Mazaira.
